Audio
Microphone audio is processed entirely within your browser using the Web Audio API. It is never transmitted to check-mic.com or to any third party. Recordings made with the Record panel are held in your browser's memory and are destroyed when you close or reload the page, unless you choose to download them, in which case the file is saved by your own device.
Permissions
Microphone access is requested by your browser, granted by you, and can be revoked at any time in your browser's site settings. We cannot access your microphone unless a test is running in an open tab.
Data we collect
We do not require an account and we do not ask for personal information. Standard server logs may record the requested page, a truncated IP address, a timestamp and a user agent string, for security and aggregate traffic measurement. These logs are not linked to any recording, because no recording ever reaches the server.
Cookies
The test itself sets no cookies. Any preference the page remembers is stored in your browser and stays there.
Third parties
There are none. This site loads no external fonts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts of any kind. Every file your browser requests comes from check-mic.com itself, so no other company learns that you visited.
Enforced, not just promised
Each page is served with a Content Security Policy containing connect-src 'none'. That instructs your browser to block every outbound network request this page could attempt — fetch, XMLHttpRequest, beacons and WebSockets alike. Even if the code tried to upload a recording, the browser would refuse. You can verify this yourself in your browser's developer tools under Network.
Children
This site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data tied to you, there is generally nothing to export or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, or you want to make an access, correction or erasure request, email contact@check-mic.com and we will respond.
Who runs this site and how to contact us
This policy covers check-mic.com and every page beneath it. For any question about privacy, data handling or this policy, the contact address is contact@check-mic.com. It is a monitored mailbox and the only channel we operate — we will never ask you for personal information through any other means, and we will never ask you to send us a recording.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
